If I Had A Hammer

Words and music by L. Hays and P. Seeger

If I had a hammer

I’d hammer in the morning

I’d hammer in the evening … all over this land,

I’d hammer out danger

I’d hammer out a warning

I’d hammer out love between all of my brothers and my sisters

All over this land.

If I had a bell

I’d ring it in the morning

I’d ring it in the evening … all over this land,

I’d ring out danger

I’d ring out a warning

I’d ring out love between all of my brothers and my sisters

All over this land.

If I had a song

I’d sing it in the morning

I’d sing it in the evening … all over this world,

I’d sing out danger

I’d sing out a warning

I’d sing out love between all of my brothers and my sisters

All over this land.

If I’ve got a hammer

And I’ve got a bell

And I’ve got a song to sing … all over this land,

It’s a hammer of justice

It’s a bell of freedom

It’s a song about love between all of my brothers and my sisters

All over this land.

Its a Small World

Written by: Richard M. Sherman and Robert B. Sherman

It’s a world of laughter

A world of tears

It’s a world of hopes

And a world of fears

There’s so much that we share

That it’s time we’re aware

It’s a small world after all

There is just one moon

And one golden sun

And a smile means

Friendship to ev’ryone

Though the mountains divide

And the oceans are wide

It’s a small world after all

It’s a small world after all

It’s a small world after all

It’s a small world after all

It’s a small, small world

Jesus loves the little children (sign language optional)

Exercise:  Dramatize animals hop like a bunny, crawl like a turtle, fly like a bird, buzz like a bee, and waddle like a duck

Saint:  Sergius of Radonezh   Like many monks, Sergius got on well with animals. One bear in particular would visit him. Sergius used to place a small slice of bread on a log and the bear would come and take it without harming Sergius. Sometimes he had no bread and the two would go hungry. There were other times when Sergius would leave a slice of bread for the bear and he would go without for the day. All of this so he would not disappoint the bear.

Prayer:  Hurt no Living Thing

Hurt no living thing; ladybird, nor butterfly, nor moth with dusty wing, Nor cricket chirping cheerily, nor grasshopper so light of leap, Nor dancing gnat, nor beetle fat, nor harmless worm that creep.  Christina Rossetti

Bible Verse: A friend loves at all times (proverbs 17:17) (sign language optional)

Blessing: Praise be to you, O God, for all the animals you made. Bless these children as they learn more about your animals, especially how to be kind and how to care for them. Amen

Dismissal: Please help all the children with their belongings, and make sure the parent signs them out.
